Requirements to enrol in HGV Training

  2. You must be at least 18 years of age or above if you want to enrol in our HGV driver training.

  3. License
  4. You must hold a valid driver’s license in order to train for a heavier vehicle.

  5. Medical Assessment
  6. HGV training will require you to undergo a routine medical check up to ensure that you don’t have any mental or physical disabilities. This does not mean that you need to be 100% healthy; you need to not have any disabilities that can cause dangerous situations while on the road.

HGV License training categories

Not all HGV are the same. Some needs towing a trailer and some needs towing a horsebox. Depending upon the type of vehicle you want to drive, there are HGV license training categories that you can choose from.

  • CAT C1 License training – for vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tonnes
  • CAT C1+E License training – for vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tonnes with a trailer up to 750kgs.
  • CAT C License training – for vehicles in excess of 7500kgs with a trailer up to 750kgs.
  • CAT C+E License training – for vehicles in excess of 7500kgs with a trailer over 750kgs.
